Resource Allocation In Heterogeneous Vehicular Networks For High Speed And Highly Reliable Data Dissemination

Project Timeline: December 2018 – November 2020
Funding Body: Marie Skłodowska-Curie Co-funded EDGE Fellowship

DSRC and cellular techniques have their respective advantages and limitations when used in vehicular environments. As a result, an integration of such heterogeneous vehicular networks bears promise to exploit their unique benefits, while addressing their drawbacks. This proposal is focused on resource allocation for heterogeneous vehicular networks to utilize the resources of each network effectively and to enable high-speed communication between vehicles. We aim to develop the proposed resource allocation scheme based on cross layer optimization in each standard, which will jointly optimize the physical and MAC layers performance of the heterogeneous vehicular network. Particularly, the proposed resource allocation scheme will be adapted to an on-demand data/cache transfer use case.
